The menu at El Cangrejo is a seafood lover’s dream. Highlights include a delightful array of shrimp dishes, each expertly prepared to showcase their freshness and flavorful zest. Dive into the Camarones Empanizados (breaded shrimp) or turn up the heat with the A La Diabla, boasting a spicy kick that delivers a mouthful of flavor for just $15.95. If you prefer something with a garlicky twist, the Al Ajo (garlic smothered shrimp) may be your new favorite. For those who appreciate a traditional touch, the A La Veracruzana pays homage to regional cuisine with its luscious tomato-based sauce enriched with spices. Each dish is served with generous portions that ensure you leave satisfied!

Don’t miss out on the culinary gem of octopus as well, promising unique flavors. Many guests, like Cindy Danzell, rave about how the food is “delicioso, flavorful, and fresh,” while others like Gizelle Serna warn that you should “BE PREPARED TO WAIT” — a small price to pay for such an exquisite dining experience. Diners also appreciate the BYOB policy, allowing you to bring your favorite beverage to match the meal, as highlighted by Christopher Jacob who expressed his enthusiasm, noting the staff is friendly and accommodating.

Aside from the delightful dishes, what truly sets El Cangrejo apart is its incredible service. The attentive staff, as mentioned by Anailee Meza, works harmoniously to ensure each customer feels welcomed and valued — from quick table turnover to personal touches that make you feel right at home. With its engaging environment and outstanding customer service, it’s no wonder patrons like Shannon Samuels return repeatedly, celebrating everything from casual meals to special occasions.

BE PREPARED TO WAIT for the best authentic mexican seafood spot in south side chicago! Food is spicy, well seasoned, and most importantly FRESH. It’s a cozy fit, but well worth it. Don’t forget your alcohol, it’s BYOB

So, this was my first time and my parents were with me. The place is cute, the seafood was so delicioso, flavorful, and fresh. Our server, Rosa, was attentive and friendly. They were busy, so you know people love the food. Great overall experience.

Wow! Incredible place that I wish I knew about sooner! It's first come first serve but they put you on list and will call when your table is ready. Been here TWICE in same week! The shrimp were HUUUGE and packed with so much flavor. Their staff is nice and it's BYOB. WOOOOOO!

Best seafood restaurant for us so far!!! Food & seasoning is flavorful. It's BYOB and service is exceptional. There is usually a wait time on weekends so be prepared. It's the worth the wait!

Im not mexican but today i felt a bit like it. Our servant rossy was very kind and patient with us and her other clients. I ordered the moharra [in the picture] and it was delightful. And there was numerous tvs and other seafood decorations. 10/10 recomended

They greet you with some ceviche at your table very flavorful 5/5 Red snapper covered in shrimp and lots of garlic was 5/5, the octopus and shrimp was very good a bit on the salty side 4/5, we did ask for that dish to have the sauce that they put on the prawns but didnt get that. Prawns were our favorite 5/5 very flavorful. Rice was very good along with the fries and garlic bread. Miche mix was okay wished they would add more lime and tajin to it. Your allowed to bring 3 beers per person drinking. Price was fair we will be back for a re review! The only down side is the wait time try and arrive early anytime after 4pm it starts tp get real busy up to a 45 minute wait Tip your servers.
